Support The Community School

I'd like to take a few minutes of your time to urge you to support The Community School's fundraising campaign. If you read the most recent GRIA meeting update, you saw that the school wants to hire another teacher. Tom Culotta has dedicated his professional life to helping students in Remington get an education. He takes kids that have messed up, or dropped out, or otherwise would be nearly certain to go without a high-school education, and he gets them across the finish line.

And beyond finishing high school, he's helped a lot of kids get into college. That's amazing. Think of the kids and adults you see around Remington who can't or don't have a job at all. Nothing against them, everybody has their own life to live. But they get stuck in an unhealthy life that's really really hard to escape, that can trap whole families for generations. Tom has turned many folks away from that life and given them the chance to choose what they want to do with their lives.

Now he wants to help more kids get ahead. But he needs more people on his team to do that. So he's hiring another teacher. Isn't that the biggest win-win to come along in minute? Help at-risk youth, and create a local job?

Do you read about the poverty and drugs in this city, about people trapped in the welfare cycle, about kids who didn't get a shot, or kids that get shot, and wish there was something you could do? Well, here it is. The Community School makes a difference in those very same lives.
