Faeries Fly Into Remington!

The first Baltimore Faerie Faire was held today at Remington's own Guardian Angel. Fae folk of all types took over Kromer Hall, the courtyard, the porch, and the old Headstart space. There were puppets and goblins, music and dance, pageantry and plays.

The federal budget sequester stripped the Headstart school that had occupied the space below the church's sanctuary of its funding, and the school shut down after the 20132014 school year. Guardian Angel is looking for a nonprofit to be a long-term tenant for the 3,150 sq ft space, which is available for $2,000 a month.

Nina Amaya approached Guardian Angel this past fall about using the space to host the Faire, which is the first of it's kind to be held in Baltimore City. Faerie faires and festivals take place all across the country, including the upcoming Maryland Faerie Festival, June 13 and 14 in Darlington, MD, and the Spoutwood Festival, which took place in early May in Glen Rock, PA.

If you're reading this post and it's still Saturday, May 16th, the Faire goes until 6 PM. A masquerade ball starts at 8pm, featuring performances by Brinjal, a bellydance band, DJ JFell, Faerie Ring Theater, Soolah Hoops, and Sekengard. Tickets to the ball are $25 at the door.
